The addition of HBr to alkenes is the focus of today’s video.
Fast forward to the fifteen seconds at the end for maximum awkwardness. I am an idiot when it comes to this stuff. Is making videos supposed to be brutally fricking hard? I don’t know how Gary Vaynerchuk and Salman Khan do it.
Thanks for bearing with me during this painful learning process. If you’re an expert on making videos (but not organic chemistry) and want to set up a mutually beneficial tutor-barter arrangement, drop me a line.

Give yourself more credit. I think you are doing well. Keep it up, I look forward to more. I think having that extra element of the audio helps. It might be nice to have a better inclusion of animation beyond the simple mouse cursor. Actually seeing the lines bring drawn between two atoms might help with retention. I’m not sure how best to go about doing that though.
If you use a Mac, pick up Scriboard:

For PCs, Powerpoint includes some nice built-in drawing tools…definitely easier than building animations within PPT.
In markownikof rule H goes to that C atom which has more hydtogen atoms.Rich become more rich!pl.discuss exceptions to this rule when you feel free.
Personally I best understood Markovnikovs when framed in terms of electron density and with respect to Zaitsevs and carbocation/anion stability. The main exceptions are hydrides, when the electron density is on hydrogen. I never understood why so few professors clearly and directly point this out.
fantastic video—-this beats any utube o-chem videos 90% of which are not as focused as this one and often not as accurate. great job.
Fabulous job, James! No Reaction Friday last week? My RSS reader felt sparse…
