Halogenation of Alkynes

Description: 

Treatment of alkynes with one equivalent of a halogen (Cl2, Br2, I2) results in an alkenyl dihalide. The alkenyl dihalide can be converted to a tetra-halide through use of a second equivalent of the halogen.
